RE: Ruby's Inn, Utah campground Q's. Best RV spot(s)? *UPDATE!*

We didn't travel from the west so we didn't get to see HWY 9. But HWY 14 is a small road. With lots of turns and twists. 9000ft altitude. Would not be the road to take with big trailer if it wasn't a must. Yahoo maps shows HWY 9 and HWY 89 as the same color road. So I would say it should be ok.
Bring paddles to Corral Pink. It is a must. Or you won't get very far. Sand is very fine. 4wd is nice. We couldn't get to the top of the hill in the Rhino, even with paddles.

RE: Inferno Recalls

Off Topic: Originally looked at the Raptors and had decided that was the one. But two years later when we finally got around to seriously courting the situtation we went to the dealer lots and looked. By no means are either me or my wife experts on what to buy. And really this is our first RV purchase as well. My parents had many RV's when I was growing up, all smaller stuff, so I am not a complete noob though.
Back to question, the Inferno was everything a Raptor was with a few differences that really made us want it, even though Raptors can be had for less money.
First: The bathroom design, with the two stairs up to the master is very nice. Bathroom is well laid out.
Second: The loft has stairs instead of a wall ladder. I think this is a huge bonus, especially with small children. Less having to help them up or down and not as much worrying that they would fall.
Third: The heater vents are not in the floor in the main room. So not as much trash, dirt or whatever is going to get stuck there.
Fourth: The cabinets and trimmings are all wood. That should help hold up later on as she gets older.
Fifth: Who else has cool lights on the front for showing off.
Now on to things we found later. Not sure why they gave a second outside drain for the galley waste water. Kinda a pain having to drain the first one then the second one. They need to route a video wire from the main room TV to the master room so more people can watch the DVD playing there. The A/C vents in the garage need swapped out with some that close, just in case you have the garage open and the A/C on inside the main room. No sense in cooling the outside. They only have one 12 volt battery. It needs more. It has space for more. We couldn't make 5hrs one night with the heater on before the battery was too low to even crank up the generator. And don't try and start the generator with the brake and light cable hooked up to the truck. It could blow the fuse that charges the trailer and those special fuses from the Ford dealer are not cheap. I carry an extra now. The master bed needs to be built a tad better. Mine fell apart on one side. So I put small bolts to hold the wood to the metal frame instead of the small screws they had. Much better now.
The garage is quit nice. Like a spare bedroom for guests. We just bought a Rhino. Not much else will fit if you get one of those. If you have just quads or motorcycles or street bikes, then it's not a big deal. They have annouced that they will build one with a 14ft garage. Not sure where they are getting the extra 2 foot, inside or adding length. But that would actually be nicer for a Rhino and a quad in sideways.
Since the annoucement of the 14ft garage, I went back to the dealer to look if they had one and ended up looking at some new different stuff with the 14ft garage. I still don't think I would trade out of the Inferno.
Back On Topic: Lippert has been real nice to deal with on the phone. When the guy was in my town to change out the rear spring, I wasn't. So I missed getting it done then. Not really worried about the door spring anyway. They sent a letter about the suspension and was really fast about getting me setup on the phone. But the traveling repair guy needs GPS. He was in Lubbock(I live just four miles outside of town with a different address), and drove clear to Houston before calling to get directions. So the recalls have not been done yet.

Inferno Recalls

Got my second recall today in the mail.
First one is the springs on the rear door are going to get replaced with different ones. Havn't had it done yet. The repair guy called when we were out of town with the unit.
Second one I got today is about the suspension underneath. Safety Recall to Reinforce Suspension Hangers.
My question is has anyone had any problems with either of these issues? I looked at my suspension but didn't notice anything bad. I am no expert though.

That's pretty cheap for $250, yes? Does it work good or just ok?

RE: Ruby's Inn, Utah campground Q's. Best RV spot(s)? *UPDATE!*

We stayed at Ruby's on July 1st. Spot 105. I have an Inferno 42.5ft no problem.
The Tropic Resevoir was nice. We rode over to it. Lots of camping there, just no electric. Don't know if there is a strict quiet time that would prohibit generator use.

That looks fun. We already took a big trip this year and are going somewhere for that weekend, but that might be on the list for next year.

RE: Family Trip to Bryce Canyon

We just went to Bryce the week before the 4th of July. Dropped in at Corral Pink Sands Dunes State Park. Then up to Bryce for a couple of days. Then on to Richfield for the 4th.
There isn't a tunnel, but two Arches. I think 13'6" was what was on the sign. I edged over to the middle and barreled on ahead. If you come off 89 you go through Red Canyon. Very cool place too.
We stayed at Ruby's too. Very nice place. Has every accomodation right there that you might need. Lots of good riding. The National Park is very cool. Many hiking trails. Take the Navajo Loop hike if you do nothing else. 1.3miles, very scenic.
I like your rig. Wish I had the extra for one of those. I had to make do with my little ol Ford. We went up 89. That pass just before Page is a test for sure. We went up it fine. No faster that prolly 35-40 mph. But she was floored to do that. Just wish it wasn't so far from home. 1000 mile one way for me. Family had so much fun though.

RE: Rhino in an Inferno?

All of those are very creative on getting the quad in the trailer. On my Rancher it is just as tall as it is wide. So that doesn't help, unless I let the air out of my tires! hhmmmmm

RE: Rhino in an Inferno?

Well, I bought a Rhino. But I bought one that was modded. 6+ LT kit. So I ain't getting anything else in the Inferno with that bad boy in there.
If KZ would get one of those Infernos to the dealer with the 14' garage so I can look at it. I might consider a trade.

What if you take the box of the Rhino then set the quad on the tires?
That is interesting.
I have a 03 Rancher 350es

RE: Rhino in an Inferno?

I am from TX. Don't know if one needs special license here.
The very back lip(one that the ramp is bolted to is only 2 inches wide. The next piece of metal is the one the rear jacks are mounted to. Doesn't look that stable(strong).

RE: Rhino in an Inferno?

My Honda is 36 tall in the front. 33 inch tall in the back. 144 inch garage - 113.5 for Rhino only leaves 30.5 inches.
97.5 inch wide garage - Leaves 43 inches. Not taking into account the bed rails. They total another 3 inches, but you can manuever around them somewhat.
So if the Rhino was stock, that might fit. If you can set a quad on end side by side with the Rhino.
Now the question comes up, Can you set a quad on end and travel. Of course we would drain the fuel first. Will the oil leak out?

RE: Rhino in an Inferno?

The hitch idea seems pretty doable. Anyone got any ideas to start from?
All custom? Get a regular class III and weld on? Build a piece to hold the quad?
Is the frame back there strong enough?
